Chris Gipson: Packs a Punch at LB

Kimball High School in Dallas (Texas) produces Division I talent on the football field almost every year, and the class of 2008 is no exception. Linebacker Chris Gipson is an aggressive kid and plays with a nasty streak. Head Coach Darrell Jordan raved about Gipson's instincts on the defensive side of the ball.

"He just has a way of getting to the football," Jordan said. "He can really run. He runs to the football and knows how to pack a punch when he gets there."

The 6-foot-0, 220-pound Chris Gipson recorded 59 tackles during the regular season this year. He runs the 40-yard dash in 4.6 seconds. He already has the mentality and skills to become a dominant linebacker on the next level. Many schools like the speed and intensity that Gipson brings to the football field.

"He is getting mail every day from all over the country: Oklahoma, Texas A&M, Arizona, TCU," Jordan said. "He is getting a lot from Iowa, Iowa State and Oklahoma State. Those are the ones that have come through here."

Jordan also mentioned Tennessee and Florida as possible SEC schools that might recruit his star junior prospect.

Kimball started the season with a brutal schedule including games against Carter, Lufkin, Tyler Lee and Skyline. Playing such a difficult schedule in the early part of the season helped propel the Knights to an undefeated record in district play.
