Keanon Cooper Talks Recruiting

Skyline High School in Texas is home to one of the most dominant defenses in the Dallas area. Keanon Cooper and Christian Scott may be the most impressive pair of safeties in the entire state. Cooper has all right tools to blossom into an outstanding college football player.

"It's going good (recruiting). I don't have any offers yet, but as far as letters and interest, it is going very good. Texas, Texas A&M, Texas Tech, Oklahoma State and LSU have been showing a lot of interest. Colorado has started sending me a lot after the season. Florida has been sending a lot. Oklahoma and Nebraska have been. Iowa was sending a lot, but I haven't got anything from them in a while. Notre Dame has been sending me a lot. And Purdue, I didn't know how much they were sending me," Keanon Cooper said.

It looks like Cooper will have a lot of offers to choose from by this time next year. He listed his top five schools at this point in time.

"I mean being that I am from Texas, I would have to say that my top school would have to be Texas. Texas A&M has a good program. Kansas State has been opening my eyes. I like Oklahoma State and Texas Tech. Those are the leading schools that I am most interested in right now," Cooper said.

Cooper talked about what separates Texas from the others.

"They have nice tradition up there. They have a nice program with good athletes. I went to a scrimmage game, and they seem like they have a good coaching staff up there too," Cooper said.

Cooper has a lethal combination of size and speed in the secondary. The 6-foot-1, 195-pound safety runs that 40-yard dash in 4.39 seconds. He commented on the tremendous season that Skyline's defensive unit put together.

"We had the second best defense in the area by a half a yard," Cooper said. "In my eyes, I still think we had the best defense. As for me, this is the best season I have ever had. The coaching staff prepared us for every game."
