The Longhorns returned to the practice field in Austin on Tuesday, ramping up preparations for their Dec. 30 meeting with Iowa in the Alamo Bowl. They did so in a closed workout, encased in concerns aplenty after back-to-back losses to Kansas State and Texas A&M that closed the regular season.

"You've got to seize the opportunity in games like this," Davis bemoaned. "It's when great players are born." If that's true, consider Dec. 10, 2006, to be D.J. Augustin's new birthday.
