Texas Big 12 Slate Announced Through 2015

The Big 12 Conference office announced its future league football schedules from 2008 through 2015 Tuesday. Here is a complete list of the future games the Longhorns have scheduled as well as the league games for the next nine years.

The 2007 season brings the strength of Texas' schedule to Royal-Memorial Stadium, including four times that could be nationally-ranked at the time of their visit. TCU will parlay its December 19 Poinsetta Bowl win over Northern Illinois into a pre-season national ranking and should be among the nation's Top 25 when the Horned Frogs come calling September 9 for the first time since the dissolution of the Southwest Conference in 1995. TCU returns nine starters from a stingy defense that ranked among college football's Top 10 in total defense.

The SWC theme continues when Texas' series with Rice returns to Austin on September 22. It also marks the return of former Longhorn QB Major Applewhite who will be in a DKR coach's booth for the first time since 2004, this time as Rice's offensive coordinator. The Owls notched their first bowl berth since 1961 this season.

The most intriguing three-week stretch begins the following Saturday, as Texas opens Big 12 play on September 29 with a chance to avenge its 2006 season-altering loss to Kansas State. The annual border war against Oklahoma resumes on October 6 in Dallas. The Horns are the home team in 2007, which means Texas fans will occupy the south end zone surrounding The Tunnel. The trifecta concludes with Texas' first road trip in league play, a visit to Gene Chizik-coached Iowa State.

Nebraska should be nationally ranked when it meets Texas in Austin on October 27. Texas Tech will be the Senior Day opponent on November 10. The season finale at Texas A&M is set for 2:30 p.m. (CST), the only Texas game so far that has a time set for kickoff.

Texas begins a two-game, home-and-home series with Arkansas in 2008 and a two-game, home-and-home series with UCLA in 2010.
