Brown Has Big Day in Practice

SAN ANTONIO -- Texas cornerback commitment Curtis Brown talks about his two interceptions Wednesday, refining his defensive technique and Hempstead wide receiver Terrance Toliver during an exclusive interview with Inside Texas from U.S. Army All-American Bowl week.

IT: You had a big day in practice today didn't you?

Curtis Brown: I had two interceptions today. On the first one, I was covering Terrance Toliver on a post route and I just broke in front. On the second one, it was a fade route against Gerald Jones and I just jumped up and got it. I just had him covered real good. That's all. I had a lot of knockdowns too.

IT: How many knockdowns did you have?

Brown: Three.

IT: Yesterday, you said you were still working on improving your technique. Do you feel like it was better today?

Brown: I just slowed my backpedal a little bit so I could break on the ball and cover the post at the same time. Yesterday, I was backpedaling real fast.

IT: Any of the Texas commitments impress you today?

Brown: Everybody looked straight.

IT: Are you getting antsy for Saturday's game?

Brown: I'm relaxed. I don't really get nervous or nothing like that. I just go out there and play my game and whatever happens, it happens.

IT: Any updates on you talking to Christian Scott about Texas?

Brown: I talked to him a little bit today.

IT: Do you think you and other Longhorn commitments have made enough progress with him to where he could commit on his official visit on Jan. 19?

Brown: He's thinking about it. Yeah.

IT: Have you talked to Terrance Toliver about Texas?

Brown: I've talked to him, but nothing like that. I haven't brought it up.

IT: Did you hear that Vince Young was named the NFL's offensive rookie of the year today?

Brown: That's straight. That's real tight.

IT: How would you rate your performance in practice today?

Brown: It was a good day. A real good day.
