Is Chiles Ready to Play?

SAN ANTONIO -- Texas quarterback commitment John Chiles talks about practice Thursday, the status of his sore right quad and his play this week during an exclusive interview with Inside Texas from U.S. Army All-American Bowl week.

IT: Today was your best practice all week wasn't it? It didn't look like you were as bothered by your sore right quad.

John Chiles: I felt better. My muscles weren't so tight.

IT: So how does your right quad feel?

Chiles: It's not 100 percent, but it's getting better each day.

IT: Is there a chance that you'll be 100 percent for Saturday's game?

Chiles: Maybe if I keep on working on my quad and keep on stretching.

IT: How would you rate your overall health right now?

Chiles: Probably 85 percent.

IT: You had a 40-yard catch over Michael Williams today. How'd that feel?

Chiles: It felt good to be able to get out there and do some things.

IT: Today was this week's last contact practice. How would you grade your week of practice overall?

Chiles: Probably a B.

IT: Why?

Chiles: Because I was playing receiver. I've been practicing to play quarterback and coming in town to play receiver was an adjustment.

IT: Which Texas commitment impressed you the most this week?

Chiles: It'd probably have to be Curtis Brown.

IT: Why?

Chiles: I didn't know that he was that good as a defensive back. I thought he played receiver. He's going to be good at Texas.

IT: Do you have any goals for Saturday's game?

Chiles: I wouldn't mind getting a touchdown.

IT: Have you talked at all to Cedar Hill quarterback William Cole about him coming to Texas?

Chiles: No, I haven't talked to him.

IT: Have you seen him play?

Chiles: No.
