J.B. Shugarts: Longhorn Reaction

From the beginning, J.B. Shugarts' name has been mentioned among the elite junior prospects in the nation. There have been rumors surfacing about whether or not the Texas Longhorns will even recruit Shugarts. He is expected to name his top six schools later this week. Did Texas make the cut?

"They are one of my top schools," J.B. Shugarts said when asked about Texas. "I love the atmosphere and where it is located. I like the city. Team wise, they are family oriented. Everyone is like a big family. They have a lot of class. When they lose and stuff, they don't make a big scene. They just walk off the field."

Shugarts does not currently hold an offer from the Texas Longhorns, but they are definitely still trying to recruit him.

"I talked to Coach (Mac) McWhorter a couple of weeks ago and I have talked to Coach (Oscar) Giles a little bit too," Shugarts said.

Shugarts is in San Antonio this week for the U.S. Army National Combine. He talked about going up against the best of the best later this week.

"I'm really excited about it. Just to compete with the best in the nation and hopefully do my best and win every one-on-one battle I have. The thing I am most excited about is to be the best you have to beat the best," Shugarts said.

Shugarts might hold more scholarship offers than any other junior prospect in the nation. He has been piling them up since August, and he is now up to about 20. However, he is expected to narrow his list to six later this week.

Stay tuned to learn more about Shugarts' performance in the combine and his decision to narrow his list to six.
