Lyvell Marzett: Likes East Coast Schools

SAN ANTONIO –- Killeen Shoemaker cornerback Lyvell Marzett showcased his skills over the weekend at the U.S. Army National Combine. He talked recruiting during his trip to San Antonio.

Lyvell Marzett has been hearing from several schools on a regular basis through the mail. However, he has not received any scholarship as of yet.

"Stanford, KU and Kansas State," Marzett said. "That is really about it through the mail."

Stanford is Marzett's top school right now, but several others are high on his list as well.

"Stanford," Marzett said. "But then my coach tells me that Arizona State wanted me to play corner because I was playing safety. Iowa State too; they are really interesting. So, I will probably go to either one of those."

Marzett listed a number of east coast schools. He talked about why distance is not a problem in making his college decision.

"I'm used to moving because my dad is in the military," Marzett said.

The 5-foot-10, 170-pound Marzett recorded 51 tackles and one forced fumble during his junior campaign at Shoemaker High School. He has already developed the speed and body frame to be a playmaker on the next level. If he can continue to improve his pass coverage, Marzett could develop into a good prospect.

"Speed and I can hit," Marzett said when asked about his strengths. "I'm getting better at coverage. I had never played corner until my sophomore year. I'm getting a lot better."
