UT end zone scoring big
Austin American-Statesman
The Royal-Memorial Stadium north end zone project is scoring big with Longhorn fans, who are snapping up everything from $62,000 suites to old bricks knocked down during the construction. The project, slated to be completed before the 2008 football season, will add 47 north-end zone suites to the 66 suites already in place in the east and west grandstands.

Horns' Ross honored in Oklahoma
Associated Press
At the start of the season, Texas cornerback Aaron Ross wasn't on a watch list of 33 candidates to be named college football's best defensive back. That fact still lingered in his mind when he came to Oklahoma City on Monday to accept his trophy as the Jim Thorpe Award winner.

Hoops:

Texas men hope for better result this time against Oklahoma State
Austin American-Statesman
ESPN deemed it worthy of Instant Classic status, but the Longhorns would come to think of their performance in less flattering terms. Oklahoma State defeated Texas 105-103 in three overtimes on Jan. 16 in Stillwater. Mario Boggan totaled 37 points — including the game-winning trey — and 20 rebounds. Kevin Durant produced 37 and 12 for Texas, introducing himself to those fans who come late to college basketball when football is over. Longhorns coach Rick Barnes praised his players' effort after the game, but it turned out he just didn't want to add a sting to fresh wounds. Two days later, Barnes offered a withering appraisal of his team.

James goes on the offensive
San Antonio Express-News
There have been times this year when Damion James has been confused for another ballyhooed Texas freshman. He will flash across the lane and swat an opponent's shot, leaving observers to wonder "Was that No. 5 (James)? Or No. 35 (Kevin Durant)?" On offense, there hasn't been much confusion. Until now.

Barnes' Longhorns still kings in Texas
Houston Chronicle
So Texas A&M has passed Texas in men's basketball, huh? That's so ridiculous we'll just leave it hanging for the time being.

Baseball:

Texas pounds UT Pan American 19-0
Austin American-Statesman
The Texas Longhorns should use a multiple-choice format to pick their favorite part of Tuesday's 19-0 victory over the UT-Pan American Broncos at Dell Diamond. It could be the team's first shutout since last May. It could be the school record-setting 11 doubles hit in the game. There was Bradley Suttle's 5-for-6 day at the plate. Or Austin Wood going five shutout innings in a strong start — just the second of his career — to earn the victory. Choice E could be the 11-run eighth inning, the largest output so far this season. Perhaps for this question there should be a choice F . . . all of the above.

Texas bucks the Broncs 19-0
Daily Texan
When the ball hit the UT-Pan American left-fielder's mitt, the remaining Texas fans gave him a cheer as he ran back to the visitor's dugout. By catching the high fly ball, Roly Gonzalez ended one of the longest and most productive half-innings in Texas history. The No. 14 Longhorns scored 11 runs during the bottom of the eighth, capping off a 19-0 win over the Broncs Tuesday at the Dell Diamond.
