LaMichael James: Horns in the Mix?

Texarkana (Texas) Liberty-Eylau running back LaMichael James burst onto the scene during the playoffs. He helped lead his team to a huge first-round upset over the Gilmer Buckeyes on the way to a 3A state championship. James has been hearing from a number of schools, including Texas. The question is how does he feel about the Longhorns?

"Oklahoma State, Oklahoma and U of H," LaMichael James said when asked about his top schools.

"I like Oklahoma State because they have a lot of new facilities. I went down there this weekend and they have a lot of new stuff. Plus, their running back is graduating. The coaches talked a lot about academics. That is very important to me because education is first," James said.

"I like U of H because it is in the city," James said. "And Oklahoma because I'm a Sooner fan," James said.

James found something positive about each of the three schools on his list, but one school is slightly ahead of the others.

"Oklahoma State would be my number one and then Oklahoma and U of H," James said. "They are all pretty close though."

James said that Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Houston and Oklahoma State have all been recruiting him pretty heavily lately. He has already received a scholarship offer from two of these schools and others are waiting for his junior day visits.

"Oklahoma wants me to come to their junior day and then they will offer. U of H has offered and Oklahoma State. The University of Arkansas wants me to come to their junior day before they offer as well," James said. "Texas said that they were sending an offer through the mail, but I never got it."

James racked up 1,587 yards and 16 touchdowns on 229 carries during his junior campaign at Liberty-Eylau. He is also a threat catching the ball out of the backfield. He racked up an additional 426 yards and three touchdowns receiving.
