Riley Dodge Commits to Texas

There was not a more productive quarterback in Texas this year than Southlake Carroll's Riley Dodge. He helped lead Southlake Carroll to their third consecutive state championship with a great arm and tremendous speed. Dodge committed to Texas today at UT's second junior day of the year. Where does he fit in?

"They recruited me as an athlete. They think I can play either wide receiver or on the defensive side of the ball. I'll do whatever they want me to," Riley Dodge said. "We really didn't talk about quarterback a lot. They have a lot of quarterbacks on their roster right now. I'm going there as an athlete and that is what it is right now."

Dodge had been hearing from the Texas coaching staff for about a month. He was recruited by Greg Davis and Mike Tolleson. His relationship with the coaches played a big part in his decision to commit to the Longhorns.

"Oh yes, I have a great relationship with them. That is what brought me here and is one of the reasons I committed today. I'm so excited about the opportunity to play at Texas. They just come with open arms. One of the things I liked was the family atmosphere," Dodge said.

Dodge chose Texas over offers from Missouri, SMU, Rice and North Texas.

"Its pretty much been my dream to come here. Since I was little, I have always dreamed of playing at Texas," Dodge said. "It's Texas; they are just one year removed from winning a national championship."

Riley Dodge is the son of former UT quarterback Todd Dodge.
