Jarvis Humphrey: Down to Two

Cedar Hill defensive tackle Jarvis Humphrey attended Texas' first junior day two weeks ago but came away empty handed. However, the family atmosphere in Austin made a huge impact on him. Has Humphrey heard back from the Longhorn coaching staff?

"They offered me a scholarship on Thursday," Jarvis Humphrey said. "They called my coach."

Humphrey was scheduled to attend a junior day at LSU last weekend but made his way back to the 40 Acres instead.

"We couldn't find a way down there," Humphrey said about missing LSU's junior day. "I went to Austin Saturday. We just watched practice. I didn't get to talk to any of their players, but I talked to most of the coaches."

Humphrey has been piling up scholarships left and right lately. He has offers from Miami, Texas, Baylor, Kansas, Kansas State, Texas Tech, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Ole Miss and Alabama. Among this long list of elite college football programs, only two contenders remain for Humphrey.

"Right now, I have narrowed it down to two, Texas and Oklahoma State," Humphrey said.

"I like Texas because everything is real laid back. They always work hard. Their coaches are really nice and are not up tight. When I went down there, it kind of felt like home," Humphrey said. "With Oklahoma State, I love their coaching staff. They are young and energetic. I can see big things for them in the next few years or so."

The 6-foot-2, 290-pound Humphrey will likely make a decision within the next month.

"I think I am going to make my decision in two or three weeks," Humphrey said.
