He's got a new 'do and, for RB Jamaal Charles, the stylin' dreads are indicative of his new attitude. The junior's decision to forego track during spring football is further evidence of his unprecedented commitment to Longhorn football now that he's "the man" in the Texas backfield.
Quarterbacks vie for backup spot
Co-defensive coordinator Duane Akina was all over wide reciever Montre Webber like he'd just caught a winning touchdown. Webber's diving catch from quarterback Sherrod Harris during Texas' first spring practice Friday caused Akina to nearly tackle them, though they'd outdone his defensive squad. On the other side of the ball and another part of the Frank Denius Practice Field, offensive coordinator Greg Davis was equally impressed and probably more excited to see his second-teamers showing some flair.
Cotton Bowl may be moving

Arlington will likely host the AT&T Cotton Bowl Classic starting with the January 2010 game. The Cotton Bowl Board is set to vote on the change today and could announce plans this morning to move the game to the new Cowboys stadium, said Terry Briggs, a Cotton Bowl official.
Horns land No. 15
The Texas Longhorns landed a surprise commitment on Monday afternoon from Beaumont, Texas defensive tackle Kheeston Randall. So far, Randall has flown under the recruiting radar somewhat, but with a commitment to Texas, he no longer will.

Horns reach highest national ranking of season
Talk about acceleration. The Longhorns, unranked in both polls just two weeks ago, jabbed the pedal and covered a long stretch in a short time. Texas came in at No. 15 in the Associated Press media rankings and the ESPN/USA Today coaches poll on Monday. That marked the Longhorns' highest ranking all season.
