There was little doubt that Hales would receive a scholarship offer on his trip to Austin. Hales got to sit down with Head Coach Mack Brown and discuss how he would be used if he ended up choosing Texas.
"He offered me a scholarship and basically told me why they liked me," Hales said. "They told me that they could use me as a slot receiver and a returner."
Hales has been a very busy kid the past couple of weeks. He has already attended several junior days and is ready to start taking a closer look at a number of schools.
"Back in January, I went to Texas A&M. Before the trip to Texas, I went to LSU. I am going to Oklahoma this coming up weekend," Hales said. "As of right now, my top schools are Texas, Oklahoma, Texas Tech, Texas A&M and LSU."
Hales wants to major in business in college and got an in-depth look at UT's business school on his trip to Austin.
"A lot of them had a lot of good things," Hales said about the schools he has visited. "I looked at Texas' business program and it looked really good. I am going to have to take a closer look at what the business programs at the other schools have to offer."
Hales probably won't make a decision any time soon, but he is expected to decide before the beginning of his senior season. Hales currently holds offers from Texas, Nebraska, Texas Tech, Texas A&M, Virginia, Oklahoma and Oklahoma State.
Hales did a little bit of everything on offense last year. He rushed for 1,249 yards and 16 touchdowns. He also gained 638 yards catching the football. During the spring, Hales is one of the best track stars in the Lone Star State.
