DeSean Hales: Focused on Track

Klein Oak wide receiver DeSean Hales was one of the hottest in the Lone Star State about two months ago. He attended junior days at Oklahoma, LSU, Texas A&M and went on an unofficial visit to Texas early in the year, but things have slowed down lately. Hales excels in track and has been working hard this spring trying to keep football in the back of his mind.

"Not to much is going on right now," DeSean Hales replied when asked about recruiting. "I am trying to stay focused on track."

Everybody knows about what Hales brings to the football field, but what some people don't know is that he is one of the brightest track stars in the state as well.

"It's going pretty good right now," Hales said about track season. "District competition is coming up."

The question on everyone's mind is whether or not anybody has taken a slight lead after Hales has had the opportunity to let visits to four of his top five schools sink in?

"Right now, I haven't given it a lot of thought. I have been so focused on track. I will have to sit down and talk to my parents before I start to narrow things down," Hales said.

Hales is still drawing a lot of attention from each of his top schools mainly through text messaging.

"Basically, all my recruiters and position coaches have been in contact," Hales said. "I have been getting a lot of text messages and stuff like that."

Hales is still unsure about where he would like to go to camp this summer, but he still wants to check out what Texas Tech has to offer.

"I want to, but it doesn't look like it is going to happen until summer time," Hales said about making a trip down to Lubbock.

Hales and the rest of his Klein Oak teammates are set to start spring practice on April 25th. He hopes to get in as much work as possible, but the end of track season might interfere.

"Hopefully, I will be able to make it to half of them. If we do make it to the state (track) and everything, I might not get to practice that much," Hales said.
