James Hanna: Texas Interested?

With 19 verbal commitments already in the bag, the Texas Longhorns will likely have to be pretty stingy with their offers the rest of the way. However, a possible target at the tight end position is Flower Mound's James Hanna. In fact, Texas' wide receiver coach made a stop in Lewisville last week to check out Hanna at spring practice.

"A lot," James Hanna replied when asked if any schools stopped by during spring practice. "Their (Texas') receiver coach (Bobby Kennedy) came by. He called me later that night. I think they already have 22 commitments or something like that, so they are kind of tight on scholarships. He told me that their tight ends coach (Bruce Chambers) is going to come up next week. We may see if we came work something out."

Hanna attended the Scout Combine in Valley Ranch in late March and was one of the most physically impressive prospects in attendance. Despite his physical gifts, he entered the combine without an offer under his belt. After his all-combine performance, Hanna quickly received his first offer from Oklahoma State and picked up two new offers a couple of weeks ago.

"Minnesota offered and Illinois," Hanna said. "That's it for now."

Where does Texas stand in Hanna's eyes?

"Yeah, Texas is definitely in my top three or four," Hanna said. "They just have that attitude. Just being there, it seems like they are going to win."

Hanna mentioned a couple of other schools that are high on his list right now.

"Right now, I would have to say Oklahoma State. They have the nicest facilities I have ever seen, even nicer than a school like Texas," Hanna said.

"Maybe Michigan," Hanna added.

Right now, Hanna is leaning towards not attending any summer camps.

"The guy from Texas wants me to come down to theirs, but I'm not really planning on going to any camps," Hanna said.
