Kyle Russell Named First Team All-American
Sophomore outfielder Kyle Russell was named to the Louisville Slugger NCAA Division I All-American First team and junior pitcher Adrian Alaniz was named to the second team by Collegiate Baseball newspaper on Wednesday afternoon.

Serrano, Garrido keep crossing paths

The last time they saw each other was during the final game of the 2004 college baseball season, at the mecca for the sport. Dave Serrano remembers it as the highlight, the pinnacle of his career. The UC Irvine coach was Cal State Fullerton's pitching coach at the time, and his staff had just shut down Texas in a 2-1 game to claim the College World Series. Augie Garrido, who had coached Serrano at Fullerton, was in the other dugout. His Longhorns had lost.

Texas will have to travel to their "home" series during NCAA tournament

Not many teams take buses to and from the stadium for practice and stay in a hotel for their "home" series. But when the Texas baseball team was awarded a No. 4 seed on Monday by the NCAA and the opportunity to host the regional and super-regional rounds, they knew that it would be a different experience than usual. Because of the ongoing construction mess at UFCU Disch-Falk Field, the Longhorns will start their postseason twenty miles up the road at the Dell Diamond in Round Rock and move down to Corpus Christi's Whataburger Field if they advance to super-regionals.


Big stage doesn't faze Cavaliers rookie Gibson
