Thomas Ashcraft: Enjoys UT Camp Visit

Many kids don't start thinking about recruiting until the beginning of their junior year, but not Cedar Hill offensive lineman Thomas Ashcraft. He has seemingly already narrowed his choices down to five and wants to make sure he finds the right school. Ashcraft has been attending summer camps since he was a freshman and stopped by Austin last weekend.

"Yeah, I went to the UT camp. It was great," Thomas Ashcraft said. "We worked on footwork and some other things like that. At the end of the day, we did some one-on-ones."

Ashcraft got the opportunity to chat with Texas offensive line coach Mac McWhorter and recruiting coordinator Bruce Chambers during his visit. According to Ashcraft, the Texas coaches were impressed with what he can bring to the table.

"I talked to Coach Chambers and Coach McWhorter, the offensive line coach," Ashcraft said. "They were pretty nice. They both seem like they are pretty interested."

Ashcraft also got an opportunity to check out the football facilities that Texas provides to their student athletes.

"I just saw the football facilities. I didn't really look at the campus or anything," Ashcraft said. "They have nice football facilities. They have a nice locker room, a nice weight room and a nice lounge."

This wasn't the first camp that Ashcraft has attending at the University of Texas. He also camped there before his freshman and sophomore seasons. He is also very familiar with Texas A&M and Oklahoma. Where else is Ashcraft planning on going before the summer comes to an end?

"On the 28th and 29th, I am going to USC," Ashcraft said. "I've been there before. I went to camp up there last year."

Having visited several of his top schools in the past, Ashcraft has a good idea of what he is looking for. However, nobody has taken a lead at this point in time.

"Basically, everybody is pretty much open. Everybody has nice things," Ashcraft said.

What will be the most important factor in Ashcraft's decision?

"How comfortable I feel there," Ashcraft said.
