Last year marked the first time in ages that Texas did not have a 1,000 rusher. Jamaal Charles plans to change all that this year and once again make the run game a team strength. Other players to look for this season include Chris Ogbonnaya, Vondrell McGee, and Foswhitt Whittaker.

After Longhorn practice, Inside Texas sat down with senior cornerback Brandon Foster on the roof of the Moncrief-Neuhaus Athletics Center under the tarp as the rain poured down outside and talked about his plans for a breakout season, which young DB he's taken under his wing and who's the fastest player on the team (ok, second fastest).

Brown on Chiles "you'll like what you see."
Austin American-Statesman
The quarterback talk coming out of the Longhorns' training camp is very similar to the preseason chatter generated this time five years ago. Back then, Texas coaches were buzzing about freshman sensation Vince Young, the quarterback who could outrun the defensive backs, but who had yet to figure out how to consistently beat them in the passing game. Freshman John Chiles, who is set to back up sophomore Colt McCoy, is generating a similar buzz.

Texas football fans who'll be seated in the rebuilt north end zone of Royal-Memorial Stadium might want to go easy on the pregame beverages. Although crews worked 24-7 to install 12,000 seats in time for the Sept. 1 season opener, construction plans did not include permanent restrooms for this season. Instead, porta-potties will be available near the end-zone entrance and will be used the rest of the season, UT officials said Wednesday.

Fort Worth Star-Telegram
TCU has experienced a little bit of everything through 20 days of fall camp, from two-a-day practices to two-hour sessions with full pads in 100- degree temperatures. No practice has been easy, but Horned Frogs coach Gary Patterson said Wednesday's workout on the Morris Practice Fields might have rated as the toughest.
