Dexter Pratt Talks Recruiting

Navasota High School is home to one of the most exciting running backs in the 2009 class in the form of Dexter Pratt. He brings size, speed and a ton of upside to the position and several schools have already taken notice. Pratt talked recruiting with Inside Texas.

It's still very early for the recruits from the class of 2009, and Dexter Pratt knows that. He has yet to receive any written offers, but he did attend camps at Texas and Oklahoma State over the summer.

"I really liked Texas' coaches and the way that they worked with their kids," Pratt said. "With Oklahoma State, I like that they recruit a lot of Texas kids."

Despite camp visits to Austin and Stillwater, Pratt is still very open as far as recruiting goes. He will line up at both running back and strong safety next year, but Pratt would like to play offense on the next level.

"A couple of schools are recruiting me for defense and a couple for offense," Pratt said. "I would like to play on the offensive side of the ball."

Pratt will be traveling to College Station over the weekend to watch the Aggies open up their 2007 season.

Navasota will open their season against Madisonville, who also has a great running back in Chris Whaley. Pratt's high school may not be considered the favorite in 3A, but he thinks they may sneak up on some of the other schools this year.

"I think we may shock a lot of people," Pratt said.
