'09 RB Likes Longhorns

When you talk about the top running backs from the 2009 class, Christian Michael's name is bound to come up. The Beaumont West Brook star stepped up as a sophomore and has already established himself as one of the top two running backs in the Lone Star State. Where do the Longhorns stand with Michael?

"Notre Dame, Texas, LSU, Connecticut, Kansas and Texas A&M are the six main schools," Michael replied when asked about the schools that have been in contact with his head coach.

With these six schools already showing interest, Michael has already developed a pretty impressive list of schools. However, he has already developed a favorite.

"Texas," Michael said. "They have always been my favorite. It's not far from home. I like the offense they run, and they always produce really good running backs."

Michael is already familiar with what UT has to offer. He got familiar with their coaches and system at camp over the summer.

"It was pretty good. I just learned the basics of my position," Michael said. "It made me want to be a part of it in the future."

Michael rushed for 1400 yards and scored 21 touchdowns as a sophomore. At 6-foot-0, 195-pounds Michael is already a very complete back. He has speed and agility, but his major strength is his power.

"I'm a hard-nosed running back all the way. I'm good at following blocks in front of my five linemen. I also have good vision," Michael replied when asked about his strengths.
