Longhorns Add Ole Miss to Future Opponents

The Texas Longhorns will play Ole Miss in 2012 and 2013, the University officially announced. In addition, Texas rounded out its non-conference schedule for next season, adding Florida Atlantic for the home opener.

Texas will travel to Oxford, Miss. for the first time when it kicks off the series on Sept. 15, 2012 and the Rebels will return to Austin on Sept. 14, 2013.

Texas and Ole Miss have met six times with the last matchup coming in the 1966 Bluebonnet Bowl, a 19-0 Longhorn victory. Including that game, the last three meetings have come in bowl games with No. 3 UT knocking off the No. 5 Rebels, 12-7, in the 1962 Cotton Bowl and No. 7 Ole Miss posting its only victory over the No. 11 Horns with a 39-7 win in the 1958 Sugar Bowl.

The first meeting between the two schools came in 1912 in Houston. Texas won that game 53-14 and defeated the Rebels in Austin 66-7 in 1914.

Texas also announced it has filled its non-conference dates for 2008 with a home game against Florida Atlantic on Aug. 30. The Longhorns and Owls have never met on the football field.
