Hales Ready for Senior Season

It's not an easy task to land a player that can change the course of a game every time he touches the football, but that's exactly what the Texas Longhorns got when Klein Oak athlete DeSean Hales committed back in June. Hales is arguably the most explosive 2008 prospect in Texas, and he is hoping for a huge senior season.

DeSean Hales did it all last year. He spent most of his junior season at running back racking up 893 yards on the ground. At wide receiver, Hales caught 20 passes for 297 yards. He also excelled returning kicks last year, returning two punts for touchdowns. In every sense of the word Hales is a playmaker.

Hales will likely line up at wide receiver when he starts his collegiate career. He spent the majority of last year at running back but will see more time catching the ball during his senior season.

"I'm going to play a lot more wideout than in the past season," Hales said. "I really want to show people what I can do at wideout. I think I can do just as much at wideout as I did at running back last year."

Hales and his Klein Oak teammates made it deep into the 5A state playoffs last year before losing to the Garland Owls. Hales thinks that his team has a good chance of being just as successful this year.

"It really looks like we are on the path to do some big things this year with the way practice has been going. I'm really anxious to see what happens this Friday against Cy-Creek," Hales said.

As far as recruiting goes, Hales is still very solid with the Texas Longhorns and may try to make it to a game at UT later this year.

"I'm still 100% Texas. That's not going to change," Hales said.
