Randall Dent: Has Big 12 Offer

South Grand Prairie High School has gotten off to a shaky start in 2007, but Randall Dent hasn't disappointed. The '09 defensive lineman received his first scholarship offer on September 1st from a school that he is very familiar with. Who stepped up to the plate and offered the big guy?

"Oklahoma State offered on September 1," Randall Dent said. "I really like their recruiting coach. Coach (Curtis) Luper is a nice guy. I went to one of their camps. I really like their coaching staff. They made me feel at home up there."

Dent's other camp visit this summer came at the University of Texas. The Longhorns aren't far behind the Cowboys on the recruiting trail. They have also sent mail, not to offer Dent, but to invite him to last weekend's game against TCU.

"Texas invited me to a game to the TCU game," Dent said. "I wasn't able to go because I had a game myself."

Dent wants to try and make a couple of games this fall, but hasn't set anything up at this time. Boston College and Notre Dame are two other schools that have been sending a lot of mail, and Dent isn't ruling anybody out because of location.

"I'm still open," Dent said. "If another road leads to a far away school, then that is where I would like to go. But, I would like to stay close to home if possible."

Dent and his teammates have opened up 0-2 this year, but he still has a good feeling about the rest of the season.

"We're doing OK. We are 0-2 right now, but I feel like we are growing as a team. I see us progressing and getting better as the season goes on."

Dent has recorded 15 tackles and one sack in two games this year.
