Christian Michael: Still Waiting on 1st Offer

The opening day of September marked the first day that the members of the 2009 class could receive written scholarship offers, and several prospects from the Lone Star State have already started picking up these offers. However, Beaumont West Brook running back Christian Michael is still waiting, but he's not worried about that just yet.

"I'm mostly having fun playing the game. I'm only a junior. So, I will probably wait until my senior year to start checking out games," Christian Michael said. "I'm trying to gather my yards and just get better. I still feel like I need a little more work."

Michael may not have received any scholarship offers to date, but he is still getting plenty of mail. He is currently hearing from Big 12 powerhouses like Texas, Texas A&M and Oklahoma State. LSU is also sending mail.

Texas was the only school that Michael visited over the summer, and the Longhorns made quite an impression on him. He has made it no secret that UT was his favorite in the past. Has that changed?

"No sir, not at all," Michael said.

What makes Texas so special?

"It's close to home and I really like their running game," Michael said. "Their coaches are pretty outgoing. They care about their players and look out for them."

Beaumont West Brook is off to a 2-1 start, and Michael is having a pretty good start to his junior year. He is splitting time in the backfield but has still managed to rack up some pretty impressive numbers.

"I had 151 yards and three touchdowns against Westfield," Michael said. "That has probably been my biggest game so far."
