Poll Report: Holding Course

Texas is now at No. 7 in both polls after dropping one spot from 6 in the Coaches' but staying in the same spot in the AP Poll.

The Texas Longhorns were at No. 6 in the Coaches' Poll and No. 7 in the AP poll last week, but are now ranked 7th in both after a 58-14 drubbing of Rice in week four.

The Trojans of USC still hold the top spot in each poll, but they are followed closely in the AP by the LSU Tigers, who hold 22 of the 55 possible first-place votes, with the rest going to USC. The separation is much more significant in the Coaches' poll, where USC holds 44 of 60 first place votes, compared to only eight for LSU. The additional eight are split between Florida and Oklahoma, who each hold four.

Around the Big 12, Oklahoma is No. 3 is AP poll and No. 4 in the Coaches', but, as mentioned above, has four first-place votes in the USA Today Coaches' Poll. The Missouri Tigers, after making their first appearance in the polls last week, moved up to No. 20 in both. Nebraska managed to hold onto a spot in each Top 25 poll after giving up 40 points to Ball State and barely pulling out the victory 41-40.

Texas A&M, previously at No. 20, was beaten 34-17 by Miami on Thursday and dropped out of the polls.
