Does Whaley Have UT Offer?

There is no question about it; Madisonville running back Chris Whaley will be one of the top prospects in the country next year. As a junior, Whaley has already compiled seven scholarship offers and more are sure to come. Texas head coach Mack Brown usually doesn't offer juniors before signing day, but has he changed that philosophy for Whaley?

It appears that he has. Chris Whaley was rumored to have an offer from UT in early September and those rumors appear to be true.

"I've got an offer from Texas A&M, Texas, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Nebraska, Texas Tech and Tulsa," Whaley said.

Whaley confirmed that the offer from the Texas Longhorns was indeed a written offer, not just a verbal. He attended camp at in Austin over the summer and came away very impressed naming UT his overall favorite. Is this still the case?

"I'm not sure yet," Whaley said when asked if the Longhorns were still on the top of his list.

Whaley admitted they he really hasn't started thinking about the recruiting process yet, but he did name some of the schools that he is going to take a hard look at.

"Texas, Texas A&M, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State and LSU," Whaley said. "I've met a few coaches from some of those schools."

Whaley has made it out to two college football games this year, and both came in College Station. He talked about the game day experience at Texas A&M.

"I've been to two Texas A&M games," Whaley said. "They were both good experiences. I saw some stuff that I hadn't seen before. It was fun."
