It's been almost an entire year since Rick Barnes and the Texas Longhorns have received a new addition to their basketball program. They have yet to receive a commitment from the 2008 class, but that may change in the next couple of weeks. One of Texas' top targets, Port Arthur shooting guard J'Covan Brown is closing in on decision time.
"Yes sir," J'Covan Brown
said when asked if he was closing in on a decision. "I'm going to announce on the 13th of (November)."
Brown is still considering five schools and nobody has taken a commanding lead at this point in time.
"Baylor, Oklahoma State, Cincinnati, Kentucky and Texas," Brown said. "They're all about the same. Each school has good academics, good basketball programs and good coaches."
Brown hasn't made any visits lately, but a member of the Texas coaching staff stopped by Memorial High School earlier this week.
"Coach (Rodney) Terry came by," Brown said.
Brown didn't get to speak to Terry, but the UT assistant did talk to his head coach.
