Tailback Charles named semifinalist for Doak Walker Award

Texas tailback Jamaal Charles on Tuesday was named one of 10 semifinalists for the Doak Walker award, given to the nation's top running back. He'll learn next week if he's one of three finalists. Charles is leading the Big 12 Conference in rushing, and he ranks 11th nationally. He's rushed for 1,366 yards on 214 carries and has scored 15 touchdowns. Both his yards and touchdowns rank sixth on the Longhorns' all-time single-season lists.

Leach given biggest fine in conference history

On Monday, Mike Leach said he wouldn't change his comments. On Tuesday, the Texas Tech coach received the largest fine in Big 12 history. Leach was fined $10,000 for comments he made about the officiating during Texas' 59-43 victory over the Red Raiders on Saturday.

Kelley Talks Recruiting
Lake Travis has been on fire as of late and is heading into the playoffs with a full head of steam thanks in large part to the dynamic duo of Garrett Gilbert and Paden Kelley. The Texas Longhorns are just one of many schools showing early interest in Kelley. He was at Texas' win over Texas Tech and talked about the experience.

Ready to Enroll
Austin High offensive lineman Mark Buchanan committed to the University of Texas way back in February and has been a regular at Longhorn home games this season. Buchanan is counting down the days before he gets to UT but is also staying focused on his senior season. He was on campus Saturday for Texas' victory over Texas Tech.
