J'Covan Brown Talks Commitment

After almost a year of waiting, Texas basketball fans got their wish on November 15th when Port Arthur combo guard J'Covan Brown became the first commitment in their 2008 class.

"Yes, sir," J'Covan Brown said when asked if he had indeed given a verbal commitment to the Longhorns.

Brown chose Texas over Baylor, Cincinnati, Oklahoma State and Kentucky. What made the Longhorns so special?

"The coaches," Brown said. "There were all really down to earth. They are great people."

Brown committed to Texas two days after basketball's first signing day and has yet to sign his letter of intent.

"I'm just committed," Brown said.

When does he plan on signing?

"During the next signing period," Brown said.

Brown may be soft-spoken when it comes to talking about recruiting, but he has been making plenty of noise on the court. Memorial High School is currently 2-2, but Brown's point totals during the first four games of his senior season have been outstanding to say the least. He is averaging 38 points per game and has scored 43 twice.
