Dan Buckner: I've played pretty good. A lot of people say I'm doing good, but I want to do like the best. I can never live up to my own expectations though.
IT: In what areas have you played well?
Buckner: Using my body, catching the football, running my routes.
IT: How can you improve?
Buckner: Catching the football, running my routes and doing things as a receiver. I mean I'm never satisfied. People ask me how I did and I'm like, "Yeah, I did good," but I never do good to me. I can think of times in high school when I caught like three touchdowns with 200 yards and I was like, "Man, I could have had a fourth touchdown." I'm never satisfied. If you're satisfied, you'll never be great.
IT: What are your goals for Saturday's game?
Buckner: I'm going to come out here and perform to the best of my abilities. That's all I can do. I want to score. I want to get in the end zone. I'm representing Texas. I'm representing myself, my high school, UT, everybody.
IT: Of the Texas commitments here right now, which of them has impressed you the most?
Buckner: Right now, Dan Bucker is doing pretty good.
IT: What has it been like spending time with other Longhorn commitments?
Buckner: It's great to spend time with everybody. I've met people from all over. They definitely have different behaviors. It just depends on where they're from. I thought it was a joke, but the people from California, you know they're from California by the way they act and the things they do. Us, Texas people, we're kind of weird. It's like, "Yeah, they're from Texas, because they're acting real weird." It's been fun. We're playing with the best of the best and having a great time.
IT: What are your expectations for next season?
Buckner: Start. Win a national championship, even if I don't start. I just want to win a national championship. I don't want to lose. If I get in and I help the team out then it happens. If I have to cheer, I'm going to be cheering because when my time comes I'm going to step up to the plate. IT: You're enrolling this month aren't you? Buckner: Yes, I start in about a week and three days. I'm looking for a change of environment. I've been in Allen, Texas too long. I'm definitely trying to get out of there and go start something new.
