Gray received an offer from Texas Tech on the first day of September. Since then, things have been pretty quiet on the recruiting front. He is currently hearing from Texas, Texas Tech, Texas A&M, Oklahoma, Notre Dame, Stanford, Florida and Virginia but has yet to name a favorite.
"I've been receiving mail and emails from Stanford, and I've met their coach. Stanford is a big priority because of the education factor. The University of Florida has been sending emails and the University of Virginia as well," Gray said. "I don't really want to name a favorite. I'm looking for the place that's best for me. I'm hoping to find the place that's right for me during junior days."
"Stanford ranks high because of the education factor. I'm not going to play football forever so getting a degree from Stanford would be a big deal," Gray added. "As far as the schools around me go, Texas, OU, A&M and Tech are obviously big players right now."
The recent trend in recruiting has seen prospects committing earlier and earlier with each year that passes. Will Gray follow suite?
"I haven't made that decision yet. I'm not going to commit until I know that that place is my home. It could be after junior days or it could be on into the season. I won't make a decision until I feel I've made the best decision for me and that come with taking visits and establishing good relationships with the coaches," Gray said.
