Garrett Porter: Texas Getting a 'Big' Visitor

It's been a couple years since Permian High School in Odessa, Texas has produced a major Division I talent, but 6-foot-6, 281-pound offensive tackle Garrett Porter is trying to turn that trend around. He already holds three scholarship offers from major programs and has set up four junior day visits.

"I've already got a schedule set up," Garrett Porter said when asked about junior day visits. "I'll be going to Oklahoma on the 2nd and to Texas on the 10th. I'm going to Arizona on March 2nd and to Virginia on the 24th of February."

Porter also expressed interest in attending a junior day at Georgia but hasn't set anything up at this point in time.

The 6-foot-6, 281-pound Porter admitted that he was more excited about his visits to Oklahoma and Texas, but this doesn't necessarily mean that he is a lock to stay close to home.

"It doesn't really matter. You can always hop on an airline and fly back home," Porter replied when asked if distance would effect his decision.

Porter currently holds scholarship offers from Arizona, Virginia and Texas Tech and is hearing from a number of other schools including Oklahoma State, LSU, Alabama, Arkansas and Missouri.

He wants to make a decision as quickly as possible, but Porter will likely finish all of his visits before pulling the trigger on a commitment.

"I'll probably finish all of my visits first," Porter replied when asked if an offer from Oklahoma or Texas could lead to an early commitment.
