Rhontae Scales: Still Hearing from Horns?

Offensive tackle Rhontae Scales has been an impact player for Killeen High School for the past two seasons. Because of this, he has racked up three scholarship offers early in the recruiting process. Scales attended a number of games in Austin during the 2007 season, but has UT backed off since then?

"No sir," Rhontae Scales said when asked if he had heard anything from Texas lately.

Just because Scales isn't hearing from the Longhorns doesn't mean that he isn't receiving plenty of interest from other Big 12 schools. He already holds offers from Oklahoma State, Texas Tech and Houston and has received two junior day invites.

"I got invited by two schools," Scales said. "I got invited by Texas A&M, and I went down there last Saturday. I also got invited to Oklahoma State this weekend, but I'm not going to that one."

Scales' trip to College Station was his first. He had a great time and talked about the experience.

"It was great," Scales said. "I got to talk to my position coach and the head coach. I got to talk to some of the other coaches and players as well. They were telling us how it is in college with practice and homework and everything."

Asked about the facilities at A&M, Scales said, "It was nice. I enjoyed everything."

Despite the encouraging words about the trip to College Station, Scales is still wide open.

"Well, not really," Scales said when asked if he had a top five. "I'm keeping all of my options open. I'm looking at every school the same way I look at all the others. I don't have a top five or anything."
