Signing Day 2008 is approaching and it will be soon followed by Texas Junior Days. The top prospects in the 2009 Class will be on the 40 Acres and one of those prospects will be Clear Lake OL Stephen Barrera, who has already picked up a pair offers.
After excelling at the defensive tackle position during his junior year, Clear Lake's (TX) Stephen Barrera
is really starting to see things pick up with recruiting. Though he has always been seeing interest, some have turned into solid offers.
"Things got a lot more intense about a month ago," Barrera said of his recruitment. "I pulled in offers from Houston and TCU here recently."
The 6-foot-5, 275-pound Barrera also has been seeing interest from a few other powerhouse in-state programs. He has already attended one junior day and plans to go to others.
"I went to Texas A&M already in late January, and I plan to go to Texas on the 23 of February," Barrera said. "All of this new interest feels good and makes me want to work harder this off season."
As a junior on the defensive side of the ball, Barrera recorded 53 tackles, two sacks, and nine tackles for loss. Barrera said he would like to play offensive tackle in college.
