Longhorns pitcher Brandon Workman wasn't worried about his team's offense coming around Tuesday. In the midst of his first collegiate start, the freshman from Bowie had 11 strikeouts through five innings and had kept UT-Pan American hitters off-balance with a powerful fastball and strong curveball. But when he looked at the scoreboard, he saw the Longhorns trailing 2-1.
Freshman pitcher destroys UT-Pan American
Texas' Brandon Workman dominated UT-Pan American in his first career start. The freshman led the No. 14 Longhorns (4-0) to a 10-3 victory over the Broncs with 11 strikeouts in six innings, holding Pan American to six hits and allowing just two runs.

Gail Goestenkors hasn't looked at last year's video of Texas' dramatic, painful loss to Kansas. She saw no reason to waste time with what happened a year ago, since most of the Jayhawks who played key roles in the game have graduated.
Coach just wants a win for birthday
Tuesday the Longhorns celebrated coach Gail Goestenkors' birthday at practice, singing happy birthday to her and handing her a box of cupcakes with a card. All Goestenkors said she wants for her birthday, however, is a win tonight on the road at Kansas.
Clemens willing to talk baseball, Astros not about woes
Wearing a light blue shirt and a white University of Texas hat with a Longhorns logo, Roger Clemens arrived at the Astros' minor league complex at Osceola County Stadium on Tuesday ready to focus on baseball. If he appeared unconcerned about the possibility the Justice Department will investigate him, it's probably because his lawyer Rusty Hardin prepared him for the likelihood two months ago.
