Barrett Matthews Talks Orange-White Game
North Shore tight end Barrett Matthews was one of several Longhorn commits on hand Saturday for Texas' annual Orange-White game. Matthews shared his thoughts on UT's use of tight ends and his impressions of Greg Timmons and JaMarcus McFarland with IT.
Improved Defense Tops Tigers
A day after a disappointing loss to Rice, it was apparent the Texas Longhorns needed to make some adjustments. Fortunately for the Horns, head Coach Augie Garrido saw it too. The Horns hinted at defensive improvement by committing only one error in a 7-3 win over Texas Southern University Wednesday at UFCU Disch-Falk Field in Austin.
Struggling Horns pull out victory over Texas Southern
The Texas Longhorns lined up Texas Southern as a midweek break during this baseball season. After losing a scheduled game against Dallas Baptist on March 10 because of rain, the Longhorns brought in the Tigers to help pad the home team's record. The only problem is, right now nothing is coming easily for the Longhorns. No. 16 Texas scuffled through a ho-hum 7-4 victory over Texas Southern that did little to right many of the Longhorns' woes. Texas again struggled to piece together a consistent offense and to display shut-down pitching against an overmatched opponent.
Longhorns regaining focus
Maybe it was the frustration after losing to Rice. Maybe they were just sick of making mistakes. Or maybe they just needed some more practice. Instead of having batting practice before their 7-4 win against Texas Southern (8-16) Wednesday, the No. 16 Longhorns (19-9) actually held a full practice before the game.
UT taps Conradt for commenencement address
The University of Texas wants Jody Conradt to deliver a different sort of pep talk. The Hall of Famer, who retired from her job as Longhorns women's basketball coach a year ago, will give the main UT commencement speech on May 17.
