"Absolutely," Kelley said. "I'm solid with Texas."
The Longhorn coaching staff has done a very good job getting the members of their 2009 class acclimated with each other. Mack Brown and company had almost every commit on campus for UT's spring football game. What does Kelley think about this group?
"I think this class is really special," Kelley said. "I've already started to form friendships with all of the guys, Mason Walters, Marcus Davis, Garrett Porter and Thomas Ashcraft. We all talk and hang out even outside of those events. We are already starting to bond, and it's a good sign for the future."
Three out of the four prospects mentioned above are offensive linemen. When all is said and done, Texas will likely end up with the top o-line class in the country. Kelley already knows just how good these kids really are.
"I think Texas has a great group of offensive linemen coming in," Kelley said. "I've seen all of their highlight tapes and they are amazing football players. I'm glad that Texas went after four and got four. I like and respect all of those guys and I can't wait to play with them. It can't come soon enough."
Along with all of Texas' committed prospects on campus for the spring were several uncommitted prospect and Kelley hopes to see them in Burnt Orange very soon.
"It was pretty cool hanging out with Devon (Kennard), Calvin (Howell) and Jamarkus (McFarland). We were all joking around about some of the other schools," Kelley said. "It's kind of hard to find out where those guys heads are, but it wouldn't surprise me if they wanted to come to Texas, where all the talent is. They are going to make the decision that is best for them, but I would love to see them (at Texas)."
Kelley and teammate Garrett Gilbert helped lead Lake Travis to a 4A state championship last year and he has already set several goals for his senior season.
"One of my goals is to fill the shoes of the seniors that left and become a leader. Hopefully, that will lead to back-to-back state championships," Kelley said. "It's going to be difficult this time around because everyone is gunning for us."
