A.J. Abrams Returns to Texas With PG in Mind
Longhorn guard A.J. Abrams officially withdrew his name from the 2008 NBA Draft on Monday, the last day in which early entrants may do so. Abrams will instead return for his senior season at Texas and said he fully intends to compete for the starting point guard position.

His famous former teammate offered approval, his coach provided some hope and his mother gave him a hug. A.J. Abrams said Monday he was excited about returning to the Texas men's basketball team and was better, the senior guard indicated, for having flirted with the NBA draft.

The Austin area has always been home to Texas sharpshooter A.J. Abrams, who hails from Round Rock. And that's not changing for at least another year. Abrams, who declared for the draft but did not hire an agent, withdrew his name from the draft on Monday and will return for his senior season at Texas.


Baseball players off to summer assignments
The Texas Longhorns have 20 players at destinations throughout the country participating in baseball action this summer. In addition to Chance Ruffin, who is participating in U.S. National Team trials, 19 Longhorns are playing in collegiate summer leagues.
