D.J. Jones: Amazing Trip to Austin

Denison running back D.J. Jones made the trip down to Austin to take in the Texas/Baylor game at the invitation of the Texas coaching staff after capping off his tremendous regular season with a 287-yard rushing performance against Sherman. Jones answered some questions about his unofficial visit to the State Capital.

Denison running back D. J. Jones had an early wake up call to get down to Austin for the 11 a.m. kickoff between Baylor and Texas.

"I left around four in the morning with two of my teammates to make the game," said Jones. "I met with Coach Applewhite and Coach Kennedy in the recruiting office when I got there."

Denison defensive end Jimmay Mundine and offensive tackle Jaqwaylin Arps are the two that made the trip with Jones.

When asked about his time in Austin, Jones said, "It was amazing. I like it down there a lot. I'd like to go there."

Jones said that he has previously attended the Oklahoma-Kansas game in Norman.

Jones has led the Denison Yellowjackets to an undefeated regular season at 10-0 with 184 carries for 2,233 yards and 34 total touchdowns. Denison is also led by junior quarterback Jordan Taylor who is 6-4, 180 and will be recruited at wide receiver.

On Friday night versus Sherman, Jones ended the regular season with 21 carries for 287 yards and two touchdown runs of 75 and 50 yards. He also had a 79-yard kick off return for a TD.

Earlier in the season in a 65-64 win over McKinney, Jones had one of the top performances of the season in Texas with 30 carries for 432 yards and touchdowns of 78, 70, 77, 9, 10, 30 and 37 rushing. He added a 21 yard touchdown reception for eight total touchdowns.
