Out of State WR Visiting for A&M Game

Texas Assistant Coach Bruce Chambers has invited Tulsa junior athlete Demarco Cobbs down to Austin to visit unofficially for the Texas-Texas A&M Thanksgiving Day game. The junior is receiving interest from all over the country and is looking forward to his trip to Austin. Cobbs took time to discuss his holiday plans with Burnt Orange Beat.

Demarco Cobbs of Central High in Tulsa, Oklahoma is going to be a busy man for the Thanksgiving holidays. Texas assistant coach Bruce Chambers invited Cobbs and his Head Coach Corey Russell down for the Texas-Texas A&M game on Thanksgiving night. After the game, Russell and Cobbs are headed to Lubbock to watch the Red Raiders and Baylor.

"I have great coaches and I appreciate the fact that Coach Russell is taking me to see these schools," said Cobbs in a phone interview this evening.

Coach Russell in an interview with OKpreps.net of the Scout network said, "Texas is on him like crazy."

Cobbs got an offer from Texas Tech on Friday. Cobbs also has offers from Arkansas and Tulsa. Cobbs is also gathering a lot of interest from many of the Big 12 and SEC schools including Oklahoma, Alabama, Georgia, LSU, UCLA, Auburn, Miami (FL), Oklahoma State, Kansas and Kansas State.

Unfortunately for Cobbs and Russell, Central High is not still playing as they lost out on a three-way tiebreaker to get into the playoffs. Central finished the regular season at 6-4.

Cobbs primarily plays quarterback for Central, but has also logged time at wide receiver, free safety, punt returner and kickoff returner.

For his junior campaign, Cobbs passed for 1,012 yards and six touchdowns, rushed 130 times for 1,082 yards and 17 touchdowns, and caught six balls for 203 yards and another touchdown. Cobbs added a punt return touchdown of 86 yards and a 91-yard kickoff return for a score. He had five kick off returns for 140 yards on the season. Defensively, he added 24 tackles and two interceptions. He also blocked a punt.

Cobbs says schools are recruiting him either as a safety or a wide receiver.
