SENIOR VIDEO: Barrett Matthews

The North Shore Mustangs feature a powerful rushing attack that is spearheaded by some dominant blockers up front in senior tight end Barrett Matthews, junior tackle Trey Hopkins, and sophomore tackle Sedrick Flowers. The Mustangs ran into a great Hightower club in the second round of the playoffs to end their season.

Texas Longhorn commit Barrett Matthews finished his senior season with 15 catches for 260 yards on the season, including 5 for 87 and one touchdown in a 28-21 loss to Hightower in the second round of playoffs.

Matthews was a first team all-district selection in 2007 after catching 18 passes for 316 yards and was the key blocker in the Mustangs run game. Many expect similar accolades for Matthews this year. Scout.com rates Matthews as the #11 tight end in the country and a four star prospect.

Matthews is 6-1.5, 212 pounds and is blessed with elite foot quickness, speed in the high 4.5's or low 4.6's and above average change of direction. He could be looked end up at tight end to H-back to outside linebacker.
