As the Texas high school playoff schedule gets smaller and smaller, the opportunity to see the best prospects of Texas also dwindles. Two venues in College Station hosted multiple 2009 and 2010 prospects and those two games also drew college recruiters from near and far.
Defending 4A state champion Lake Travis Cavaliers kicked things off at 2pm at Kyle Field facing Friendswood. The game, played in high winds, featured Texas Tech
quarterback commit Jacob Karam
quarterback and offensive line commits Garrett Gilbert
and Paden Kelly
In typical Lake Travis fashion, the game was over almost as quickly as it started. After jumping out to a 14-0 lead in the first quarter, the Cavaliers and Gilbert cruised to a 56-22 victory.
The second game, at A&M Consolidated's Tiger Stadium, featured a 1A semifinal matchup between Cayuga and Ganado. As expected, Cayuga's junior running back impressed as he rushed for 250 yards and six touchdowns in the 42-7 win.
