The Hoxie Mustangs are home to one of the top defensive tackle prospects in the nation. Future Texas Longhorn Derek Johnson burst onto the scene in the small Arkansas town as a sophomore and has been one of the more dominant lineman in the state ever since. We have senior video of 6-3, 300 pounder.
After dominant sophomore and junior seasons that totaled over 170 tackles and ten sacks, Derek Johnson
turned in another terrific season as a senior, posting 76 tackles, 12 quarterback pressures, 10 tackles for loss, three sacks, one caused fumble and one fumble recovery that he returned 40 yards for a score, despite being double teamed on every play and sometimes triple teamed.
Texas secured his commitment despite offers from Tennessee, Oklahoma, Mississippi State, Arkansas, Ole Miss, Arkansas State, Georgia Tech, Baylor and Memphis.
