The Texas Longhorns have four offensive linemen in the 2009 recruiting class. One of them is Odessa Permian's Garrett Porter. The 6-6, 305 pound tackle has been the anchor of a Permian team the last two years that went a combined 25-2.

enjoyed another standout season in 2008 helping lead the Panthers to a 12-1 record. The season, in which Porter was tabbed AP 5A first team all state, came after a standout junior campaign as "Mojo" returned to the playoffs advancing to the regional finals and finishing 13-1.
The 6-6, 305-pounder was the anchor of an offensive line that opener up hole after hole in the running game often leading to games of 250 yards rushing or more.
In January, the future guard or right tackle took part in the U.S. Army All-American game in San Antonio teaming up with fellow Texas Longhorn commits Tariq Allen, Greg Timmons, Calvin Howell, Marcus Davis, Alex Okafor and Chris Whaley.
