After a one-year absence, the University of Texas Baseball Alumni Game will make its return at Disch-Falk Field on Sunday, February 8.

The game, which will begin at 1 p.m., will feature former Longhorns such as Randy Boone, J. Brent Cox, Brandon Fahey, Robby Hudson, Seth Johnston, Carson Kainer, Joseph Krebs, Dustin Majewski, Kyle McCulloch, James Russell, Kyle Russell, Huston Street, Drew Stubbs, Taylor Teagarden, Curtis Thigpen and Chance Wheeless. Only players who are currently affiliated with a Major League organization will participate in the contest.

The Alumni roster will feature four players with Major League experience, and a couple more could get the call as early as next season. One highly regarded prospect is the Cincinnati Reds' Drew Stubbs, who batted .293 after reaching Triple-A last season. The former Longhorn centerfielder is excited to play in the updated Disch-Falk Field.

"This will be my first time playing in the stadium since its renovation, so I'm looking forward to that," said Stubbs. "It's also always great to be back on the field with some of the guys that I played with a few years ago."

Traveling to the game won't be a problem for most alumni. Although they no longer attend The University, the overwhelming majority of this year's Alumni roster – including Stubbs – makes their offseason home in the Austin area.

"It's very convenient for us to stay around Austin because we are able to get our workouts done at the field," Stubbs explained. "You won't find a better facility for us to use when it comes to that, and we are able to work out with other guys who have the same ambitions as us. With that combination, it's a no-brainer for us to be here."

As for the current Longhorns, they will play one more tune-up during Fan Appreciation Day on Sunday, February 15. Festivities kick-off with a 1:00 p.m. autograph session, and the 'Horns will close the day with an intrasquad scrimmage at 4:15 p.m.

Texas officially opens its season on Friday, February 20 against the Illinois-Chicago Flames.
