Recruiting: White Has New Timeframe For Decision

One of the things that makes recruiting fun is following a guy from the day you first hear about him until he pulls the commitment trigger. But in the meantime, recruiting services strive to get a specific timeframe on when a prospect might elect to announce his school of choice. Learning that info might be somewhat of a chore, but not in a bad way...

It's just another aspect of what makes recruiting fun. If that's not enough to make you nervous with anticipation, there's the prospect who decides he's not ready to make an announcement on his previously scheduled date, but perhaps in a day, or two, or three...

Lendale White, a 6-2, 220-pound blue-chip running back from Littleton, Colorado was expected to make his decision the day after Christmas. Yet three updates from various recruiting services posted the day after Christmas (Dec. 26) revealed White wasn't yet sold on any one school from his list of four favorites (Pitt, Texas, USC and Michigan).

One service had White now waiting until Saturday (Dec. 28) and another till Saturday afternoon, with the third having him making one of the biggest decisions of his life by the end of the weekend.

And now IT becomes part of the entertaining merry-go-round of chasing the commitment time frame info for White. But IT gave White and his family a bit of a Christmas break from the telephone and waited until Friday night to call.

"Lendale's going to make his decision after the All-American game in Texas," said White's mother Friday evening.

The fun never stops with a kid like LenDale White. At least not until after the US Army All-American game, which will be played Jan. 5 in San Antonio.
