In the Film Room: St. Pius DE Greg Daniels

The Texas Longhorns received five verbal commitments yesterday including St. Pius defensive end Greg Daniels. The 6-3, 225-pound prospect becomes the third defensive line prospect to commit to Texas in the 2010 class, joining tackles Taylor Bible and De'Aires Cotton.

The Texas Longhorns are looking to recruit big time talent as anyone else, but also build depth along the defensive line in the 2010 class. On Saturday, the Longhorns secured a commitment from a Houston area defensive end that has flown under the radar.

In St. Pius defensive end Greg Daniels, the Longhorns are getting a prospect that is just beginning to fill out physically going from 6-2, 200-pounds as a sophomore to 6-3, 225-pounds as a junior.

As a sophomore, Daniels was thought of as a tight end prospect by the St. Pius staff and there is still the thought that he could play defensive end or tight end at the next level by those that have coached him.

"I left behind four studs (at St. Pius) and Greg is a special player and a great kid. He does everything we asked of him." Former St. Pius head coach Robin Kirk said.

While his future position will be decided in time, here is a first look at Daniels playing defensive end against Sulphur out of Louisiana.
