In Focus: Dexter Foreman

Dexter Foreman is one of the top quarterbacks in the 2011 class in the state of Texas. At 6-1, 206-pounds with 4.65 speed and a strong arm, the junior is attracting attention from every Big 12 program.

The Manvel Mavericks began practice on Monday with hopes of taking the next step and breaking through in 24-4A play. In 2008, the first year varsity program went 3-6, 3-4 in district with a couple of close calls that kept the Alvin I.S.D. program out of the playoffs.

The major reason why Manvel was in the playoff hunt was the play of sophomore quarterback Dexter Foreman. The then 6-1, 194-pounder passed for 1,633 yards and rushed for 448 accounting for 23 touchdowns in nine games after Hurricane Ike forced the cancellation of a non-district game.

Now 6-1 and up to 206 pounds with 4.65 speed and a very strong arm, the signal caller is looking to take the next step as a passer improving his accuracy as well as leading the Mavericks to the playoffs.

Burnt Orange Beat made the trip to Manvel High on Thursday to check in on the junior quarterback.
