2009 Texas Commit Schedules - Part 1

The high school season is just days away and many of the Texas Longhorns commits in the 2010 class will be part of some of the top games around the state. In a two part story, Burnt Orange Beat provides high school football fans all of the schedules of the class of 2010.

The high school season is closing in and is just days away. Teams have been practicing for more than a week and are busing preparing for the 2009 season. The Texas Longhorns have commitments from players from the 5A, 4A, 3A, 2A and 1A ranks as well as TAPPS. With future Longhorns spread out around the state, it will be easy to find a stadium to take in the 2010 class on Friday nights.

The Longhorns have nine commits in the Dallas/Fort Worth area, five in East Texas, four in Houston, and one in the Cen-Tex region.

Haltom (2-8, 2-4 in 2008) 3-5A

Reggie Wilson is looking to help lead the Buffaloes to a winning season in 2009 after recording 74 tackles and nine sacks as a junior.

Aaron Benson looks to help lead the Longhorns to their second 5A state title in the last four years. Benson tallied 155 tackles, seven sacks and three interceptions as a junior.

Adrian Phillips and Tevin Jackson along with nine other starters are back as the Owls look for another run deep in the playoffs. Phillips defined jack-of-all-trades as a junior rushing for 875 yards, passing for 862 yards and hauling in 422 yards in receptions along with 19 touchdowns. Jackson piled up 94 tackles and seven sacks in 2008.

Star receiver John Harris compiled 583 yards and seven touchdowns, but will likely play under center as a senior. Gone are running back Jonathan Miller and a lot of experienced seniors.

DeSoto returns 16 starters including future Longhorns Adrian White and Darius Terrell along with many other top regional prospects. White posted 57 tackles and an interception as a junior while Terrell hauled in 35 passes for 568 yards and seven scores.
